well i comrehended that It would be great read but somehow It could not sustain my interest and for those reading my reveiw I read for 6 hours everyday professional or personal such is my vocation so to speak.And if I could not be glued to the text so be it.
And for the author You have the language and the situation but involve the reader also.I could not connect.My apoliogies.
I was enticed to purchase this book from the New York Times book review. I almost never do not finish a book, but, this book is an exception. What is scattered is the plot, the organization, the bumping from one event into another with any attempt to make the transfer understandable to the reader. I quit before I finished; maybe if I stuck it out, it would have unscattered itself. I really lost the desire to find out.
I found the character development to be thin, at times caricature-like. Tanweer seems to have promise in identifying interesting micro-level stories. But in this book the author does not seem to have found a compelling voice yet. I will look out for future work by the author though.
A gorgeous, moving novel. Get it.
Words cannot express how beautiful and joyous this book is. There is a deep seeded spirituality and warmth in all the tragedy.
disappointing. narrative too scattered and confusing. I also didn't connect to any of the characters.
So much for tightly woven narrative threads, but it does give pause to an important theme. I'm still not sure I've stitched the pieces together at all.
